But by stacking up Amex discover offer, basically you could buy 250 dollars Marriott gift card and get 100 dollars(50 dollars +50 dollars statement credit) back, it's like 40% off. So if you have multiple Amex cards, you could potentially rack up a few Marriott gift cards. There is an easy way to keep track of  these cards. You just need to go to this web site: https://gifts.marriott.com/login/ At the bottom, you click"create account" to register your gift cards information. Easy way to use up HSBC travel enhancement credit during the pandemic!

Image
HSBC travel MasterCards offer travel enhancement credit(TEC) as one of the cards' features. The TEC amount is based on what kind of card you have. The TEC is supposed to only work in the categories shown above, but the real world application is very broad. All types of airfare can be offset by the TEC. During the Pandemic, people are flying much less. One easy way of using it up is to book anything on  Expedia.ca, which will trigger it and once it's posted, you can redeem it right away. I booked a hotel stay on Expedia.ca instead of  through hotel's own web site so that I could take advantage of 200 dollars credit. The whole process is very smooth and the rewards portal even keeps a record of TEC redemption for 2 years. It's my first time to redeem TEC on Expedia.ca. But the process is quick and smooth!

Hong Kong Three(3) eSIM

Image
Hong Kong mobile carrier 3 has a low cost annual data plan worth considering if you have eSIM capable phone. For people with low data usage, 3 has a very good and cheap plan for Canadians. The plan details are as follows: The cost is 268 HK Dollars per year, which is about 43 Canadian dollars. The link for this plan is https://www.three.com.hk/prepaid/DIY/en/offer/travel/ After completing the purchase of the plan, Hong Kong Three will email you the eSIM QR code for you to use. Preferably using a no FX credit card! In the case of eSIM capable iPhone, after you activate the secondary line, turn Data Roaming ON, it will be working right away: roaming on Rogers network. Due to Apple App Store geo restrictions, iPhone users are unable to download HK Three app. But checking the data usage online is available. And before you are using up the data, you will be able to  top up the same plan again. The one caveat worth mentioning is the long latency due to the re routing of traffic to HK. Mobile
